Brady Suspended for Steroids - Not!

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

I got a frantic call from a friend yesterday after she heard that Patriot’s quarterback, Tom Brady, was suspended for four games for steroid use. “Whaaaaaatttt”, I screamed. I immediately checked online for any news from si.com, nfl.com, cnn.com - nothing. Did find a story on Digg that the radio show hosts, Opie and Anthony said this on their show as a farce and some people actually believed it and spread the misinformation. It went on to say that most people know that O and A make these things up all the time and shouldn’t be taken seriously. Well, I guess some people did believe it and gave me a few minutes of panic.

There were some other stories on the web that mentioned Giselle being allegedly caught with steroids at an airport and claimed they were her boyfriend, Tom’s. I’m sure there’s a lot more versions out there, but I just don’t want to know. It’s all a bunch of hype and it’s all parked.

There are so many people that are jealous of the Patriots success and will go to any length to disgrace them. Look at what Don Shula said the other day about the Patriots being “tainted” as they come closer to going undefeated, like his ‘72 Dolphins - that’s parked, man. Then there’s the other complaints about “videogate” and running up the score - parked.

The truth is that the New England Patriots are the most talented team in the NFL and should keep scoring as many points as they can to prove it. The real truth is that they don’t have to prove it to anyone else and just need to keep on keepin’ on. These things have a way of playing out.

Go Pats!

Patriots Scoring Too Much?

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Are the Patriots parked for all those high scoring games, while their opponents are nowhere close in points? No way! I’ve heard some people, not fans of course, say that the Patriots are running up the score and there’s no reason for it. I don’t agree. These players are out there to play, not to sit on the ball.

Coach Belichick is putting on a clinic and showing everyone that the Patriots are a team to be reckoned with and full of talent on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Look at all the weapons they have to score points - Moss, Welker, Stallworth, Maroney, and Vrabel, to name only a few. Even Brady himself proved he can rush for a few scores as he showed us last week. This is pure talent and hard work, not the result of some videotaping scandal.

It’s time the Patriots get their due respect. They can’t help but keep scoring points.

Red Sox Win the Series!

Monday, October 29th, 2007

We, in Red Sox Nation are still hungover from the late night games, soused by the excitement, but most of all, happy as clams. The 2007 Red Sox team gave us a lot to cheer about all season and delivered the ultimate gift once again. No talk of breaking the curse this time, just pure talent and teamwork brought home the well-deserved trophy.

Thanks from your fans at Parked Nation. There’s nothing parked about the World Series winners, unless you’re a Rockies fan.

Go Red Sox!

Only parked thing here is the late starting time of the games. Go Sox!

What Was Junior Seau Thinking?

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

If you saw the Patriots-Browns game on Sunday, you probably saw Junior Seau make a brilliant interception and start to run it back. About halfway down the field, he raises his arms in celebration with ball in outstretched hands. I could understand his excitement, but he wasn’t even close to the goal line. In fact, he was very close to the other team’s players and could’ve easily had it taken away. I love Junior and am impressed with his drive and agility, but he made a bad decision.

Just goes to show you that even great football players can have parked moments. Wonder what Belichick had to say in their Monday meeting.

Fan is parked

Monday, October 1st, 2007

A week ago I attended my first ever football game and there is nothing like the real thing. We had great seats - 30 yard line, second row. We were so close we could hear the coaches yapping at their players. Anyway, this is a short little diddy about a parked fan. Here I am watching intently when my team makes a first down. As I am about to cheer, the hand appears 3 inches from my face. Startled, I jump back to “digest” the moment as the hand disappears.

OK, that was weird, but back to the game and another first down. Again, I am about to jump up and cheer when this hand appears inches from my face again. By this time, I realize that whenever the team makes a first down, there is this ritual of sticking your hand out in a chop-like fashion and yelling “FIRST DOWN”. Pretty cool except the parked fan next to me doesn’t care that she’s in my face.

Well, on the next first down I see the hand coming and I turn to the lady and say - “Hey, that’s a little close. Do you think you could do that in front of your own face!” Well, I guess she got upset because the rest of the game she looked the other way and didn’t say another word.

The fan was parked. There was nothing wrong with the concept, but you just don’t stick your hand in another person’s face and expect everything to be OK. When will people get it? When will the stop being PARKED?

Mangini is Parked

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

For the past week all I have been listening to everyone “trash” Bill Belichick for video taping the defensive calls of the New York Jets.  So I figure it’s time I add my two cents.  Here we go!  What Belichick did was wrong - that’s for sure.  I do not condone it, support it or suggest that what he did is in the best interest of the game, but let’s also get real about a couple of things.

First he is not alone in “cheating”.  If you really listened to the all the commentators then you heard the honest ones talk about how getting an edge or “cheating” was not uncommon in an industry where lots of money is there to be made.   You heard stories about guys renting rooms that had views of opposing teams practice fields, mouth reading, soft footballs and all kinds of tactics to get one step ahead of the other guy.

So why is Belichick taking the brunt of the cheating frenzy?  Because he is good and the team is number one.  Why not try to knock them down a peg or two?  Tarnish the whole team because they have it on tape.  Hey Chris Collingsworth, Jerome Bettis, LT and everyone else that wanted to hang the guy and the team, you should never throw stones when you live in a glass house.  Your envy was clearly evident in calling for suspensions and more.

Mr. Goodell here’s your chance to really clean up the league by asking every team for their secret videos and cheating ways.  You have a great opportunity to ask them all because no one’s going to lie - at least for the next week or two.

The second thing I want to talk about is Eric Mangini.  The guy is Parked.  Clearly the color green suits him.  I never thought he would stoop so low that he would ”tattle” on his former boss, mentor and teacher.   Is he so insecure that the only way to get even was to rat on the guy?  What did you do all those years you worked for Belichick………clearly you “cheated” too.  So are you telling me that you are an innocent and that you don’t try to get in edge in the game - if that is the case then I suspect your NY Jets will be 2 and 14.  It’s a shame you would bring that to a hard working bunch of guys.

So what do we do?  We move on.  Belichick’s been trashed enough.  Besides next week there will be another sports scandal………….everyone is so parked today.

Football Season

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Finally the new season is upon us.  I will start right off the bat - no pun intended for baseball fans, but I love the New England Patriots.  On paper they look like they cant’ be beat and with Tom Brady as the QB, Bill Belichick as the head coach I feel pretty confident.

I am sure I will have lots to post on this as the season moves along so keep looking and send in your comments
